Description	:	Dr. Harcourt Potter "Court" Rogers was one of four children born to Palmer and Matilda (Day) Rogers. He first married Anna Laura Horner 28 Nov 1885 in Woodbury Co., Iowa. They were the parents of two sons, C.A. & Carl. The first wife died in 1888 and is buried in the Correctionville Cemetery in Woodbury Co., Iowa. The Anthon Herald, 19 January 1927, page 1: Dr. H.P. "Court" Rogers, 66 years old of Walthill, Nebraska, well known in Anthon, died suddenly Saturday January 8, 1927, in the lobby of the hotel at Walthill. Dr. Rogers was waiting for supper when he became dizzy. He called for a glass of water and before the glass could be handed over the doctor had passed away. The funeral was held Tuesday, January 11, at Decatur, Nebraska, in the Methodist Church with the Decatur minister officiating. Burial was made in the Decatur Cemetery. The Walthill Odd Fellows attended the funeral as a unit and had charge of the burial ceremonies. Dr. H.P. Rogers was born at Oto in 1861 being one of the first white children born in the Little Sioux Valley. He lived at Oto and Anthon for many years practicing as a veterinary surgeon. Fourteen years ago the Rogers family moved to Decatur, Nebraska, from which place Dr. Rogers moved to Walthill about eight years ago. He is survived by a wife and four children. They are Carl of Columbus, Montana; Mrs. Byrem, Mrs. Ed Mitchell and Charles Rogers of Decatur, Nebraska. A son, Perry, lost his life on the battlefields of France while a member of the American expeditionary force. Dr. Rogers is also survived by 21 grandchildren. He left no brothers or sisters, being the last of his generation. Dr. Rogers was well known throughout the Little Sioux Valley and made many friends during the span of his life. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were A.I. Doyle of Milnor, North Dakota; Carl Rogers of Columbus, Montana; Ray Doyle and Clyde Doyle of Holstein, Iowa.
