Read More	Georgetown Times May 2 1957 Rev Dr H D Bull Dies at Barnwell of Heart Attack The Rev Dr Henry DeSaussure Bull rector of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Holy Apostle of Barnwell died at his home in Barnwell Friday afternoon of a heart attack. A prayer service was held at 1 am Saturday at the Church of the Holy Apostle. Officiating was the Rt Rev Thomas N Carruthers of Charleston bishop of the diocese. Funeral services were held at 4 pm Sunday at Prince George Winyah Episcopal Church Georgetown. Officiating were the Rt. Rev Albert S Thomas retired bishop and the Rev A Nelson Daunt rector. Burial followed in the churchyard directed by Mayer Funeral Home. Dr Bull was born November 9 1885 at Stateburg in Sumter County the son of DeSaussure Bull and Caroline Rees Bull. He was educated at Porter Military Academy Charleston and was graduated from St Luke’s Hall University of the South Sewanee, Tenn in 1914. He had taken special courses at Columbia University. New York City. He received the degree of Doctor of Divinity from the University of the South in 1950. Dr Bull was ordained a deacon in 1914 and priest of the Protestant Episcopal Church by the late Bishop William Alexander Guerry in 1915. He was in charge of St Albans Mission Kingstree from 1914 to 1916. Assistant rector of St Luke’s Church Charleston 1916 17 rector of Christ Church Charleston (now St Peter’s) 1917-23 rector of Calvary Church Fletcher NC 1923 24. He became rector or Prince George at Georgetown on Sept 1 1924 and in 1925 became rector of the other Episcopal churches here. In May 1954 be resigned as rector of Prince George to become rector of the Church of the Holy Apostle in Barnwell. He is survived by his widow the former Miss Gertrude Cornish of Charleston; five daughters Mrs P E Grannis of Windsor Conn, Mrs. L B Terrell of Odessa Texas Mrs R E Quinn of Georgetown and Mrs A C Clarkson Jr of Columbia and Mrs George Asnip Jr of Johnsonville; two sons the Rev John H Bull of Knoxville Tenn and Henry D Bull Jr of Columbia; 17 grandchildren; four brothers James H Bull of New Orleans, Charles M Bull of Memphis Tenn F Kinlock Bull of Pinopolis and Henry Bolivar Bull of Iowa and a sister Mrs F D Pinckney of Columbia.
