Description	:	NAUSE, Dr. John David – 77 years of age, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2016 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by family. Born August 9, 1938 in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Freeman Joseph and Frances Kathleen (Moore) Nause. John was a born educator, having taught English at the University of Ottawa from 1970 to 1976 and later moving to Yarmouth to embark upon a very rewarding teaching career. Read More	NAUSE, Dr. John David – 77 years of age, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2016 in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by family. Born August 9, 1938 in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Freeman Joseph and Frances Kathleen (Moore) Nause. John was a born educator, having taught English at the University of Ottawa from 1970 to 1976 and later moving to Yarmouth to embark upon a very rewarding teaching career. He eventually became the principal of Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School, a position he held for a number of years until his retirement. Loved by students and colleagues alike, John was a passionate teacher and continued to do substitute teaching until very recently. John was the acting president of the Yarmouth Liberal Association and was very involved with Th’YARC, where he produced and acted in many performances throughout the years. He also enjoyed writing, and was a published poet and short-story author. He would advocate for other local writers as well, helping them to get their own works published. Faith was very important to John; he was a member of Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral parish, Yarmouth. He is survived by his children, David, Vancouver; Mary Elke, Ottawa; Matthew (Mary Ann), Missisauga; Arthur (Maureen), Ottawa; Elliott, Yarmouth; Laura and Christina, both of Saint John, NB, as well as by his grandchildren, Andrea Rae, Eric, Clare, Leah, Andrew, Jessica, and Ethan; and his great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Lucille, Sam, Molly and Conley. John is also survived by his former wife, Dawn-Marie Skjelmose. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Lawrence and Fred, as well as an infant brother. Visitation will take place from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m., Wednesday, July 20th with prayers at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 21st at Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to Th’YARC or to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation.
