Description	:	------ Dr John Henry Indorf was born June 24, 1886 in Red Cloud, Neb. When he was one year of age his parents, Mary and George Indorf, moved to Cheyenne County, Kansas. On April 12, 1912, he married Ruby Carver in St Francis. John was graduated from St Joseph Veterinary College, St Joseph, Mo in 1911. He began his veterinary practice at the age of 24 in Cheyenne County and the surrounding tri-state area. for over 50 years Dr Indorf practiced veterinary medicine and at the same time maintained a successful career in ranching and farming. In... Read More	------ Dr John Henry Indorf was born June 24, 1886 in Red Cloud, Neb. When he was one year of age his parents, Mary and George Indorf, moved to Cheyenne County, Kansas. On April 12, 1912, he married Ruby Carver in St Francis. John was graduated from St Joseph Veterinary College, St Joseph, Mo in 1911. He began his veterinary practice at the age of 24 in Cheyenne County and the surrounding tri-state area. for over 50 years Dr Indorf practiced veterinary medicine and at the same time maintained a successful career in ranching and farming. In addition he ran for county sheriff in 1927 and remained active as sheriff or deputy sheriff for 12 years. Dr Indorf was also an active participant in the community. He was a member of the Christian Church, the Kansas State Veterinary Society, the Elks Club, Masons, Odd Fellows and Eastern Star. John, known as "Pop" was loved and respected by his family and friends. He had the ability to make everyone he met feel important as a person. Neither wealth nor poverty impressed him - it was the individual that mattered. Dr Indorf died on Nov 28. Services were conducted on a Friday, Dec 1 at the First Christian church by the Reverend John Bartlett. Interment was in the St Francis Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Ruby; six daughters; Iva Blacker and Anna Marie Wilson of Boulder, Colo.; Helen Lampe and Margaret Shay of St Francis; Estella Knitig of Goodland and Ruby Schlepp of Burlington, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; one brother George Indorf of Clay Center; two sisters; Anna Harmon of Casper, Wyo and Margaret Wilson of Superior; half brothers and sisters; Henry Indorf of Yakima, Wash., Fritz Indorf of Phoenix, Ariz;, Lida Wahrman of Bird City, Kansas and Arline Wilson of Huachuca City, Ariz; one step-sister Emma Cook of St Francis, Kan.; and Carl Harrington of Chicago, Ill -------------------------
