Lowry, at Grant City, Mo., June 17, 1917, at 10:15 o'clock p. m., at the age of 47 years, 10 months and 2 days. May L. Lowry was born in Lee county, Illinois, Aug. 15, 1870. She was married to Dr. S. A. Beason at Maryville, Mo., Jan. 24, 1892, and lived in that city two years. She with her husband then entered the Western Dental College at Kansas City, Mo., where the y spent two years, coming from that place to Newell. Later Mrs. Beason returned to Kansas City and finished her dental course and after her return to Newell Dr. Beason went to Chicago and finished his course in the College of Dental Surgery. Dr. Beason returned in June 1897, after which they both practiced dentistry in Newell and built up very large and lucrative practice. Dr. a n d Mrs. Beason were engaged in the practice of dentist y together, an unusually loving and congenial partnership, until Dr. Beason's death on November 7, 1913. After Dr. Beason's death Mrs. Beason continued he r practice in the office hallowed by the memory of her beloved husband until last year when her failing health compelled her to sell he r practice to Dr. M. M. Frydenborg, who had graduated a few weeks before from the state university and who has successfully conducted it since. After disposing of her practice and her residence Mrs. Beason left with some friends on a trip to the Pacific coast. Mrs. Beason spent considerable time in California and Oregon but her health failed to improve. On returning she went to Rochester, Minn. to consult the celebrated Mayo brothers who informed her that she was suffering from cancer of the stomach, for which there was no cure. Mrs. Beason then returned to the home of her brother at Grant City, Mo., where with the bravery and fortitude which ha d characterized her whole life she prepared for the end. The last few months of her life she spent in brave and patient waiting g for the inevitable. With her trust in her Savior she passed into the valley of the shadow, into the mystery of the great beyond. Mrs. Beason was conscious within two or three hours of her death, and sent many messages of love and best wishes to friends in Newell. Mrs. Beason was a woman of every fine ability and beautiful and attractive personality. Her professional work was so exacting in time and vital force that Mrs. Beason had little opportunity to cultivate social relations or engage in many diversions. Bu t she formed many close and lasting friendships which were very dear to her during her long residence in Newell. Her ideals were very high, her disposition most sanguine , her presence cheerful and congenial. Her innate refinement was obvious. Her life in Newell as a housewife and a practicing dentist was a busy one., Mrs. Beason is survived by her only daughter Lucille, her parents, Benjamin F. and Phoebe Lowry of Maryville, Mo., three brothers, S. W. Lowry an d R. II. Lowry of Grant City, Mo., and Samuel W. Lowry of Maryville, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Clark of Maryville, Mo. One sister, Mrs. Clara Ann Hollowell , died five years ago. Funeral services were held at the home and then the M.E. Church June 30 conducted by the Pastor George W. Eggleston. Pall Bearers were George M. Allee, Dr. F. C. Foley, E. L. Francois, J. O. Ervin, E. R. Norton and R. B. Galbraith. She was laid to rest in the Newell Cemetery beside that of her husband to await the resurrection to eternal life.
