Read More	January 8, 1925 - Carroll Times - Dr. M.A. Beach of Stratford passed away at the Webster City hospital Wednesday morning, December 31, after an illness of but a few days. Dr. Beach spent a happy day with his family Christmas, enjoying the day immensely. In the evening he was called to the home of a sick patient and while there began to feel badly. By morning it was realized that his condition had become serious. It was not until Saturday, however, that he was hastened to the hospital at Webster City. His brother, H.E. Beach of Des Moines, and his sister, Dr. Lena Beach of Sauk Center, Minn., hastened to his bedside and were with him at the time of his death. His wife and two sons were also constantly at his bedside during his illness. "Gus" Beach, as he was known in this city, was born in Glidden, April 18, 1867, the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.W. Beach. When he was a young boy his parents moved to this city, where he attended the public schools and grew to young manhood. Later he attended the University of Iowa, graduating in medicine in June 1901. In September of that year he opened his office in Stratford, Ia., where he became one of the most influential men of the town. He was married shortly after locating there to Miss Adah Cheasbro of this city, who with their two sons, John Myron, and Chester, survive. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Stratford Friday afternoon. The services were largely attended. Dr. Beach was the only physician in Stratford and the entire city bowed in grief at his passing. Doctors from Webster City also attended in a body. Dr. Beach had for years taken patients to the hospital at Webster City and was highly esteemed by all the doctors of that city. His remains were brought to Carroll Saturday, being transferred by auto hearse. Services in charge of the Masons were held in the Masonic temple Saturday afternoon. Rev. Fresher, his pastor, of Stratford, Ia., gave the benediction and prayer. The remainder of the services were in charge of the Masons. The male quartet of the Methodist church sang a sacred selection. Burial was made in the Beach family lot in the city cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Quinn and son, Lyle of Boone, Dr. Will Presnell and son of Scranton were present at the funeral. H.E. Beach and two chidren of Des Moines were also present and Dr. Lena Beach of Sauk Center, Minn. Besides his wife and two sons John Myron, who will be graduated from the electrical engineering course at Ames in June, and Chester, who has had a term of forestry a Ames, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. M.W. Beach of this city; one brother, H.E. Beach of Des Moines and his sister, Dr. Lena Beach of Sauk Center, Minn. Carroll friends of the Beach family sympathize with them in the untimely death of Dr. Beach. While he had not been well for some time past suffering with kidney and bladder trouble he had overcome the disease and during the past few months was enjoying the best of health. The doctors at Webster City pronounced his death due to an attack of intestinal flu.
