Dr. Strock was born March 20, 1919 in Elloree, SC, the son of Otto Holmes Strock and Mary Emma Smith Strock. He was a 1941 graduate of the School of Veterinary Medicine at Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University and practiced for over 64 years. He was a former president of The SC Association of Veterinarians and served on the board of trustees for Auburn University. Dr. Strock received the Distinguished Veterinarian Award from the SC Association of Veterinarians. He was president of The Stockholder Association for SCANA Corporation. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Charleston, The German Friendly Society, The Exchange Club of Charleston, Civitan Club, Orange Lodge in Orangeburg, York Rite, and Omar Shrine. He is survived by his wife of 64 years; three daughters: Amelia and Bob Burkholder of Atlanta, GA., Sue and Wilbur Wise of Johns Island, SC, and Ellen and Hugh Durrence of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren: Geoffrey and Maryanne Burkholder, Katie and Charlie Brady, Scott Wise, Michelle Wise, Marty and Christy Walker, Lynne and Juan Walker, and Ann Durrence; two great grandchildren: Sam Burkholder and Mary Kathryn Burkholder.
