Robert married Beatrice Joan "Jo" Lansdown on March 6, 1944 in San Fransisco, and from 1944 to '47 he served in the Army in the South Pacific. After the war, Robert returned to his home town, where he established a dental practice which thrived until his retirement in 1991. He was a past president of Rotary and served on the YMCA board of directors. He was also commanding officer of the 6255th Dental Service Reserves Unit. Robert and Jo had four children whose names have been excluded to protect their privacy.
