Read More	Dr. Roger Meyer Shelor, age 60, died at the OSU Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, on Monday, October 29, 2012 due to complications from cancer. Roger will be especially remembered for his strong faith, love of serving others, quick wit, compassionate teaching, and love of experiencing the world that God has made. Born on May 28, 1952, in Roanoke, Virginia, to Henry B. and Maude Shelor, he graduated from Virginia Tech University, earned an MBA from Auburn, and graduated with his Doctorate from the University of Kentucky. Roger served in the US Army and Army Reserves, attaining the rank of Major. Roger enjoyed teaching Finance and Economics at Eastern Kentucky University, Louisiana Tech University, and finally Ohio University, where he served as the head of the finance department. He was endowed as a Fox Professor of Business and received numerous awards for excellence in teaching, advising, and publishing. He also served on the board of Community Savings and Loan in Caldwell, OH. Roger became a follower of Jesus early in his life, and his faith was very important to him all of his days. His life was focused on helping others. He volunteered for the Kiwanis Club; he led the Royal Ambassador Boys’ Group; and he participated with the leadership of the following churches: Porter Memorial Baptist, Lexington, KY; First Baptist Church, Ruston, LA; and Christ Community Wesleyan Church, Athens. Surviving him are his mother Maude, his wife of 36 years Barbara, his brother Allan, and his children, Deborah Hemingway and spouse Frank, William and spouse Maggie, and Anna. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Henry B. Shelor. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, from 4:30-6:00 pm, followed by a service at 6:00 p.m. at Christ Community Wesleyan Church, 6275 Kenney Memorial Ln, Albany, Ohio. The family welcomes all whose lives Roger has touched. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roger Shelor Memorial Scholarship Fund or The Christian Business Leaders at Ohio University.
