Read More	Dr. Pigman died at his home on West Ninth Street in Concordia, Kansas, after a long and painful illness with kidney cancer. He was taken to the home of his son, Craig Pigman, at Pueblo, Colorado, early last summer with the hope that the change would prove beneficial to him, but in this his family was disappointed. He had been a local surgeon for the Union Pacific Railway for many years and that company placed a car at the disposal of his family to convey him to his home here last week so that his last days might be spent among the friends and neighbors he had known for so long and loved so well. He came from a fine family of forebears prominent professionally as physicians, lawyers and educators in the locality where he was born and in the adjacent states of Maryland and Pennsylvania. He was graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1879 and began the practice of medicine soon thereafter in the east. He had been making his home with his uncle, Dr. Alexander Craig, at Columbia, PA, who owned a considerable tract of land in Summit township in this county on which he was feeding a large bunch of cattle. Dr. Pigman's health was at the time rather poor and he was persuaded to come west to look after the interests of his uncle. So he came to this county and lived here ever since, unto the time of his death. He was married to Miss Mary Moore, daughter of Dr. D.B. Moore, who also had a homestead in Summit township where he also practiced medicine. The marriage took place in 1885. In 1888 they moved to Concordia and Dr. Pigman took up the active practice of his profession with great success. He was public spirited and took an active part in every progressive community interest. He was a member of the Board of Education, member of the Board of Trustees of the City Library, and was for many years the Secretary of the Board of Pension Examiners with headquarters in Concordia, and was for more than a score of years the local surgeon for the Union Pacific Railway. He also found time to be an active and valuable worker in the ranks of the Republican Party. He was also very active as a member of every branch of Masonry represented here. He was a great reader and had a wonderful retentive memory which served him well when called upon for counsel respecting Masonry. Those of us who have known the man for many years will remember him best and admire him the most for his kindness to his friends and acquaintances and above all for his unquestioned and unswerving devotion and affection for his family. Dr. Pigman's life a success and his death relieved of doubt as to the reward well won. Deceased is survived by his widow and four children; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Parry, and three sons, Craig, Nathaniel and Hansen. One brother, Hanson Briscoe Pigman, of Connellsville, PA;a sister, Mrs. J.H.S. Seeley of Kansas City; Mrs. Pigman's sister, Mrs. C.E. Abell of Ashland, KS; a cousin, Dr. David J. Moore of Idana.
