Description	:	W.E. "Doc" Sedivy was born September 8, 1933 to Andrew Albert and Daisy Sedivy of Lynch, Nebraska. Doc passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 following a brief illness at Avera Creighton Hospital, Creighton, NE. Doc grew up on the family farm 5 miles east of Lynch, and graduated from Lynch Public School in 1950. He served his country as a U.S. Marine combat soldier during the Korean War conflict where he earned a purple heart during combat. "Doc" Sedivy was born September 8, 1933 to Andrew Albert and Daisy Sedivy of Lynch, Nebraska. Doc passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 following a brief illness at Avera Creighton Hospital, Creighton, NE. Doc grew up on the family farm 5 miles east of Lynch, and graduated from Lynch Public School in 1950. He served his country as a U.S. Marine combat soldier during the Korean War conflict where he earned a purple heart during combat. He was honorably discharged on November 1st, 1953, and returned home to farm with his dad east of Lynch for several years before he decided to enroll in the Veterinary Medicine program at Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS. where he earned his DVM degree. He operated his own vet clinic at Lynch for a number of years, before deciding to pursue a job opportunity working for Vigortone Feeds, based in Fremont, Nebraska, where he helped formulate and market swine concentrate, as well as other livestock feeds. He later started his own feed company, "Doc Sedivy's" feeds, which he marketed throughout northern and eastern Nebraska. He later retired from the feed business, moved closer to home, and spent the later part of his life in Niobrara, Nebraska. During his retirement he enjoyed reading, and continued to study. He also enjoyed working on his "cabin" that he built southeast of town that he eventually turned into his personal library. Doc is preceded in death by: parents, two brothers, one sister, three nephews and one niece. Doc is survived by: nieces, Linda Faye Sedivy Schumacher of Ainsworth, Nebraska, Mindee Jo Zimmerman Purchase of Fort Worth, Texas and Kristi Ryan of Kansas City, Missouri; nephews, Mitch Zimmerman of Fort Worth, Texas, Terry Sedivy of Omaha, Nebraska and Scott Sedivy of Lynch, Nebraska. Graveside Services for W.E. "Doc" Sedivy, of Niobrara, NE, were at the Alford Cemetery near Monowi, NE. with Military Rites conducted by the Niobrara (NE.) American Legion Post #224 and V.F.W. Post #4834.
