Redmond, prominent professional man of Miller, passed away at 7 o’clock Monday evening following a two months illness. For some time Dr. Redmond’s health had been failing, and on September 8th he was taken to the Miller hospital. At time he appeared to be somewhat improved, and hope was held by his family and many friends that he might ultimately recover his health. Last Thursday, however, his condition changed for the worse, and his death followed. Funeral services were held on Thursday morning from St. Ann’s Catholic church, where requiem mass was said by Father Hyland. Pall bearers were Dr. E. H. Wilson, J. D. Haverstock, J. M Magnes, L. T. Jarmuth, C. P. Corcoran and A. J Shaw. He was laid to rest in the G. A. R. cemetery. William Glenn Redmond, youngest son of James Thomas and Margaret Redmond, was born at Peru, New York, on February 22, 1877. The son of pioneers, he came to Hand county when the family homesteaded in Miller township in the early eighties. He returned with the family to their former home along Lake Champlain, N. Y., but himself returned to Miller in 1899, and continued to make this his home. In 1904 he graduated from the Dental College of Northwestern University, with a brilliant scholastic record, which entitled him to membership in Phi Beta Kappa, dental fraternity. Immediately after graduation he established an office in Miller, and he served this community continually until ill health forced his retirement in September. A member of the South Dakota dental Association he had served as state president of the association. He was married on December 31, 1907 to Miss Grace Carroll. One son, John, now in the navy, was born to them. Surviving his death are his wife and son, one grandson, a sister, Miss Mary E. Redmond, and a brother, James T. Redmond, all of Miller. Out-of-town relatives here for the funeral were Dr. B. H. Carroll of Toledo, Ohio, Judge Paul Carroll of Minneapolis, Mrs. Mary Alice Melham of Aberdeen, and Miss Carrall Cahalan of Belle Fourche.
