Read More	From a 1912 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, transcribed by Linda Berney: William H. Barber was born Jan. 4, 1856 at Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was first married to Laura Findley, who died August 7, 1884. Two children were born to this union, Nelson N. and Pearl Baldridge, both of this place. He was afterward married to Mary E. Sadler June 7, 1887 at Tulon, Ill. To this union two children were born, Norris and Allen. both were present. Doctor Barber passed quietly to the beyond on the morning of July 4, 1912, leaving to mourn his loss, a wife, four children, three brothers, three sisters and an aged father 97 years old. The out of town relatives who attended the funeral of Dr. Barber were as follows: Jacob Barber of North Loup, Asa Barber of Ord, John Barber of Centralia, Kansas, a brother-in-law James Woolsey of Rock Port, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. John Craigmile and family of Tarkio, Mo., Mrs. John Black, a sister of Mrs. Barber of Bradford, Ill., and Mrs. May McKeever of Kewanee, Ill. ~~~~ ....His death came suddenly the morning of July 4, the result of a multiplied boil....Dr. Barber was a member in high standing in the I.O.O.F, Modern Woodmen and Knights of Pythias, from which orders the pall bearers were chosen.... Mr. Barber graduated from the Chicago Normal School in California, ranking the highest in scholarship in a large class, later graduated from the University of Iowa and afterwards from the Hahneman Medical College, Chicago. Dr. Barber was a skillful surgeon and also ear and eye specialist. For 20 years he had a large practice in Fullerton and the surrounding country, sacrificing often, skill and time to relieve suffering and because where there was no possible hope of compensation for either medicine or the services rendered. From 1895-5 Dr. Barber was head physician at the Norfolk Asylum receiving wide commendation for his efficiency and success in dealing with "curables." ...By his fellow physicians he was professionally conceded to be the "best read" physician in Nance county...Many a home in Nance county feels the loss of a "friend in need" in the passing on of Dr. Barber...
