Duane was born September 14, 1935 on the family farm in Harlan County near Mascot, NE., the youngest of four children born to Frank A. and Veda M. (Cady) Ekberg. Duane graduated from Mascot (NE.) High School with the class of 1953. On March 3, 1957, he was united in marriage to NaDyne Hilton at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, NE. Duane was born September 14, 1935 on the family farm in Harlan County near Mascot, NE., the youngest of four children born to Frank A. and Veda M. (Cady) Ekberg. Duane graduated from Mascot (NE.) High School with the class of 1953. On March 3, 1957, he was united in marriage to NaDyne Hilton at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, NE. To this union four children were born: Steven, Terry, Julie and Rhonda. Duane worked as a Master Plumber. He started working for his father-in-law, Wayne Hilton at Hilton Heating & Plumbing, later buying the business and renaming it Duane and NaDyne Ekberg Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. Duane later bought and operated the Devil's Nook package store. Duane owned and operated D&D Plumbing with his brother, Don, until his retirement. Duane was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, NE. and past member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Elks Club. Duane enjoyed relaxing and watching T.V., playing cards, watching Husker Football, fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed the Fourth of July and all the fireworks. Duane was preceded in death by: parents; sister, Jean Johnson and her husband, Edwin; sister-in-law, Gloria Ekberg; and daughter, Julie Lynn Ekberg at the young age of 28. Duane is survived by his wife, NaDyne Ekberg of Holdrege, NE.; sons: Steven D. Ekberg and his wife, Tami of Holdrege, NE. and Terry Ekberg and his wife, Lucky of Fountain, CO.; daughter, Rhonda K. Bronstad of Holdrege, NE.; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert Ekberg and his wife, Alta of Holdrege NE. and Donald Ekberg of Holdrege, NE. and a host of relatives and friends. Interment was in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege, NE.
