Description	:	Duane Heimgartner, 83, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Monday, December 22, 2008 at Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2008 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars, Iowa with Vicar Ed Durand officiating. Interment will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hinton, Iowa. Visitations will Friday morning at the church from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Duane George Heimgartner was born November 21, 1925 on the family farm in Lincoln Township, near Hinton, Iowa to Henry and Katherine (Voegeli) Heimgartner. Duane was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton, Iowa. He attended country school near his home in Lincoln Township. Duane was united in marriage to Lorna Eppling on July 21, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Duane farmed in Lincoln Township, east of Hinton, until his retirement in February of 1990. Duane and Lorna continued to live on the farm until they moved to Le Mars on December 26, 2003. Lorna passed away on September 15, 2004. In December of 2004, Duane moved to Park Place Estates in Le Mars and July of this year moved to the Good Samaritan Center. The Heimgartner's had been longtime members of Trinity Lutheran Church. Duane had taught Sunday school and held many of the positions within the church. While living in Le Mars, Duane and Lorna attended Grace Lutheran Church. Duane and Lorna led their Christian lives by example. Duane was a believer of the Siouxland Blood Bank, having donated for many years. He was a member of the Plymouth County Farm Bureau and had served many positions within the organization including President. Duane enjoyed bowling, woodworking, hunting, and family fishing trips. Survivors include his 3 children: Marlene Rishel and her husband Steve of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Ron Heimgartner and his wife Sandy of Hinton, Iowa, and Mark Heimgartner and his wife Janell of Le Mars, Iowa; 8 grandchildren: Nathan Heimgartner and his wife Becky of O'Fallon, Missouri, Dustin Heimgartner of St. Ann, Missouri, Katie Heimgartner of Hinton, Kristen Heimgartner of Le Mars, Jacob Heimgartner of Le Mars, Brian Rishel of Papillion, Nebraska, Philip Rishel of Lenexa, Kansas, and Aaron Rishel of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, Elroy and Maycelle Heimgartner of Le Mars; 2 sisters-in-law, Florence Heimgartner of Le Mars and Lillian Heimgartner of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Katherine (Voegeli) Heimgartner; his wife Lorna; and 3 brothers, Albrik, Robert, and Rueben Heimgartner.
