Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Larry Fett officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hinton, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the church, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 6 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars. Lorna Lucille Eppling was born Oct. 21, 1923, on the family farm near Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Martha (Hopp) Eppling. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Hinton. She attended country school near Kingsley and graduated from Moville (Iowa) High School. She married Duane Heimgartner on July 21, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The couple farmed east of Hinton in Lincoln Township for many years. They moved to Le Mars on Dec. 26, 2003. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and participated with the Trinity Ladies Aid for many years. After moving to Le Mars, Lorna and Duane joined Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting and tending to her garden and raising flowers. She also was a very gifted cook and baker. Throughout her life, Lorna focused on her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Duane of Le Mars; three children and their spouses, Marlene and Steve Rishel of Plattsmouth, Neb., Ron and Sandy Heimgartner of Sioux City, and Mark and Janell Heimgartner of Le Mars; eight grandchildren, Nathan Heimgartner and his wife, Becky, of O'Fallon, Mo., Dustin Heimgartner of Fairfield, Calif., Katie Heimgartner of Sioux City, Kristen Heimgartner and Jacob Heimgartner of Le Mars, and Philip Rishel, Brian Rishel and Aaron Rishel of Plattsmouth; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marlys Susemihl; and two brothers, Merlin and Marvin Eppling. Pallbearers will be Philip Rishel, Brian Rishel, Aaron Rishel, Nathan Heimgartner, Dustin Heimgartner and Paul Susemihl.
