Reeg, 85, of Genoa, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Grand Island. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery with military honors by the Edward H. Larson American Legion Post # 144. Duane was born on April 8, 1930 in Holyoke, Colorado, to John Phillip and B. LaVerna (Thomazin) Reeg. At the age of 3, Duane moved with his family to a farm in Platte County. Duane graduated from Genoa High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 through 1953. After completing his military duty, he returned home and farmed until 1982, when he moved to Genoa and began working for Loup Power as a dredge operator. In 1958, Duane married Jan Hinrichs in Glenvil. Duane was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa, the VFW and the American Legion. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and taking trips to Minnesota. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and a Husker fan. Most of all, he enjoyed playing with his grandkids. Duane is survived by his wife Jan, of Genoa; three sons: Kevin (Linda) Reeg of Genoa, Brian (Melaney) Reeg of Columbus, and Kenny Reeg of Genoa; two daughters: Kathy (Brad) Rogers of Norfolk and Debbie (Craig) Levine of Sioux City, Iowa; brother Keith Reeg of Genoa; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth, infant brother, grandson Cody, sister-in-law Rosalie Reeg, and nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested "In Care of the Family".
