Duane Wesley "Tuck" Banta Sr. was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Anthon, Iowa, the son of George and Bertha (Rickman) Banta. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Services were Friday January 4, 2002 at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. He grew up and attended school in the Anthon and Oto area. He attended the United Church of Christ in Oto. On Aug. 17, 1950, he was united in marriage to Kathleen McClimans in Elk Point, S.D. Tuck operated a bulldozer for over 40 years, working for Maudlin Construction in Webster City, Iowa, Lloyd Olson in Ute, Iowa, and the last 24 years for Flewelling Construction in Moville, Iowa. He and his wife, Kathy, ran the Oto Cafe for three years. Tuck enjoyed going to sales and auctions. He also found satisfaction in raising hogs, sheep and especially rabbits and also enjoyed the time he spent in the garden. Survivors include Kathy, his wife of 51 years of Oto; two sons, Ardell "Butch" Banta and his wife, Diana, of Correctionville and Duane Banta Jr. and his friend, Patty Gotto, of Mapleton, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Donna and Dan Reisdorph of Anderson, Mo.; grandaughter, Tami Banta, who Tuck and Kathy raised, of Oto, Alan Reisdorph and his fiancee, Becka Hamilton, of Jay, Okla., Ardell Banta Jr. and his wife, Vickie, of Sioux City, Deanna Skidmore and her husband, Tim, of Salix, Iowa, Valerie Banta and Amanda Banta, both of Le Mars, Iowa, Ryan Gotto, Aaron Gotto and Michael Banta, all of Mapleton, and Tracy Buck of California; great-grandchildren, Kiali Gotto, Ali Gotto and Cole Banta, who Tuck also helped raise, Steven Martin and Bryan Banta of Sioux City; three stepgrandchildren, Jeff, Eric and Jason Reisdorph of Tampa, Fla.; four great-stepgranddaughters, Chrystal and Kelly of Sioux City and Jordan and Taylor of Ridgeland, Miss.; two brothers and their wives, Merle and Darlene Banta of Sioux City and Chuck and Sandy Banta of Decatur, Ark.; three sisters and their husbands, Gin and Randy Pike of Rogers, Ark., Betty and Don Mook of Sioux City and Ona and Don Finzen of Sioux City; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Hope Banta; a grandson, Benji Banta; a brother, George "Dewey" Banta; and a baby sister.
