He was a truck driver for the Friedrickson Grain Company of Meriden, Iowa. He was born July 21, 1934, at Anthon, the son of George W. and Bertha Banta. He was married July 20, 1961, to Florence Daniels at Fort Worth, Texas. He attended school in Oto and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the United Church of Christ. Survivors are the widow, Frances; three daughtes, Susan, Theresa, and Penny; two sons, Daniel and James, all at home in Sioux City; his mother, Mrs. Bertha Banta of Rodney; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Mook and Mrs. Virginia Kinnaman, both of Sioux City, Mrs. Ona Mae Finzen of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Duane and Charles of Oto, and Merle of Long Beach, California. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m, February 19, 1970, at the United Church of Christ with Pastor Walter Enstrom officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon.
