Doan died of a heart attack as he slept Tuesday night at the home of his son John in Ponca. Mr. Doan had returned during the day from a visit with relatives in Sioux Falls, S.D., and was apparently in the best of health when he went to bed. The suddenness of his passing was of course a great shock to his family and his many friends. Mr. Doan was born in Benton County, Iowa, January 29, 1868. At the age of three his parents brought him to Dixon County where he had lived for the past 63 years. He was one of the long time residents of the county. He grew to manhood, married and became the father of four children, one, a daughter died in infancy. Three sons, Clinton, Clarence, and John survive him. His wife passed away July 6, 1933. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. R.G. Sturtz, of Cedar Rapids, IA, and one brother George of Des Moines, IA, and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Presbyterian church Firday afternoon at 1 pm. Burial will be in the Ponca Cemetery under the direction of Mohr's Mortuary. The Doan family has the sympathy of the entire community in their sorrow.
