Read More	Duncan Robertson Obituary October 6, 1936 PLYMOUTH COUNTY EARLY SETTLER IS CALLED BY DEATH Duncan Robertson, of LeMars, Died Suddenly on Tuesday Duncan Robertson, a well known retired farmer and pioneer of western Plymouth County, passed peacefully away in sleep at his home in LeMars, Tuesday, October 6, 1936, aged 75 years. His death was unexpected, as he was found dead in his bed when members of his family called him when he failed to arise at his usual time. He had been advised by physicians some weeks ago that his heart was affected. Mr. Robertson was among the early settlers in this county and was widely known and well liked. He was born at Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, May 4, 1861. When a boy, eight years of age, he came with his parents to the United States. They settled in Sioux City, where they lived for three years, and then came to Plymouth County and located on a farm in Washington Township. Mr. Robertson followed that occupation all of his life until he retired and moved to LeMars five years ago. He was united in marriage to Miss Henrietta Ross, on April 17, 1887, the ceremony taking place in LeMars. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Locer of St. Lawrence, Mrs. Anna Burgard, and Mrs. Margaret Dennler of LeMars, and two sons, John Robertson of Akron and Neil of St. Lawrence, S.D. There are four grand children. A daughter, Mrs. Kate Solomon, of Pittsburg passed away a year ago. He also has two brothers, Neil Robertson, of James, Iowa and Angus Robertson of Wessington, S.D. Mr. Robertson was a fine, upright citizen and enjoyed esteem and regard of all who knew him. A host of friends join in extending sympathy to those who have lost a kind and devoted husband, father and brother. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the family home at 2:00 and in Plymouth Presbyterian Church in Johnson Township at 2:30 conducted by Rev. W.E. Smith. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends. Interment was in the cemetery at the church. Obituary contributed by T. Tone.
