Description	:	Obituary: Dwayne Brown passed away Saturday, January 13m 2001 at the Nemaha County Good Samaritan Home in Auburn, NE, He was 86. Dwayne was born in Pawnee City on August 7, 1914 to Herbert Theodore and Lucy Josephine (Bartunek) Brown. Dwayne grew up on a farm four miles south of Pawnee City and attended Barker Country School and Pawnee City High School. After high school, he helped on his family's farm, spent some time in Lamont, OK working for his aunt and uncle on their farm, and also worked in the apple orchards around Yakima, WA. During WWII, he joined... Read More	Obituary: Dwayne Brown passed away Saturday, January 13m 2001 at the Nemaha County Good Samaritan Home in Auburn, NE, He was 86. Dwayne was born in Pawnee City on August 7, 1914 to Herbert Theodore and Lucy Josephine (Bartunek) Brown. Dwayne grew up on a farm four miles south of Pawnee City and attended Barker Country School and Pawnee City High School. After high school, he helped on his family's farm, spent some time in Lamont, OK working for his aunt and uncle on their farm, and also worked in the apple orchards around Yakima, WA. During WWII, he joined the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Victorville, CA. He married Freda Pauline Peacock on September 10, 1942 in Seneca, KS. After the war,Dwayne and Pauline moved to Pawnee City were he worked for his father-in-law. While in Pawnee City, Dwayne and Pauline had three children: Richard, Gail, & Ronald. In 1961, the family moved to Ashland,NE where Dwayne worked in the rock quarry for Hoppers Brothers and later as a custodian for the Ashland Schools. In 1968, they moved to Columbus,NE where he worked as a custodian for St. Mary's Hospital. When the hospitals in Columbus merged, he was in charge of the non-medical supplies for the hospital until his retirement. Dwayne and Pauline moved to Shelby, NE in 1984 where they lived until 1997. They then moved to Auburn and in April 1998, Pauline died. Dwayne moved to Good Samaritan Home were he lived until he passed away. Preceded in death by: Parents; Wife,Pauline; and brother, Eddie Brown. Survived by: Son, Richard and wife,Donna of Auburn, NE; Son, Ronald of Columbus, NE; Daughter, Gail and husband, David Dreher of Helena, MT; Sister-in-law, Evelyn Brown of Lincoln, NE; Brother-in-law Keith Peacock and Wife, Vivian of Pawnee City, NE; Sister-in-law, Marjorie Lenz of Beatrice, NE; 8 Grandchildren, 3 Step-Grandchildren, 8 GreatGranchildren, 3 Step-Great Grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.(from funeral pamphlet)
