Read More	Earl Hepp Accidentally Killed In The Swan River County A sad accident happened last Friday when Earl A Hepp of this city was accidentally shot by Cassius Belknap, The accident happened in the Swan river country where the two young men had gone a few days before, expecting to build a cabin for Mr. Hepp. The two men started to the site of the proposed cabin and as they were going through the timber Belknap, who was in the rear carrying a gun, stumbled and fell, the gun discharged and striking Hepp in the leg. When Belknap arose from the ground be found his friend injured and he immediately started carrying him to a place where aid might be given. After carrying him a distance a half a mile he was unable to go further with the injured man and left him to secure assistance. He secured a horse at the Carl Anderson home and returned to the wounded man who was placed on the animal and another start was made for the Anderson home. At the place Earl placed on a sled and start made for the ranger station who, in the meantime, had heard of the accident and had started out to meet the two men. The wounded man was removed from the sled and placed in the car belonging to Ranger Wilse and he and the wounded man and Mr. Belknap started down the Seely lake road to the hospital at Missoula. It is said by those in the car that Earl made no complaint during the entire trip, although they drove as fast as possible over the bad roads. When the car arrived at the hospital in Missoula it was found that Earl had expired on the road, exidently from the loss of blood. The remains of the unfortunate young man arrived here Saturday from Missoula and the funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon. Burial was made in the Lakeview cemetery. Earl and Cassius have been friends since their boyhood days, having gone through the local schools together and they were together whenever the occasion presented itself. The accident is very regrettable and one in which no blame can be attached to anyone. Besides the relatives, Earl leaves a host of friends to mourn his untimely death. Earl A. Hepp was born at Florence, Montana, February 22, 1901. His parents moved to this city at the time the reservation was opened and have resided here since. Earl graduated from Polson high school and attended the University of Montana. He was well and favorably known throughout the valley. The Pallbearers were Clyde Weythman, Wilbur DeGolier, P. Smith, Robert Steele, James Lambert, and Charles Lindblad, of Missoula. Those who attended the funeral from out of town were his brother Jack Hepp, of Seattle, Ernest J. Hepp and wife of St. Helens, Oregon, L.W. Walters of Belgrade, John Roske of Columbia Falls, Mr. and Mrs. John Green of Missoula, and Mr. and Mrs. Art Bradford of Missoula
