Description	:	Earl Albin Pearson, age 77, of Hayti, SD passed away on Friday, April 18, 2008 at his residence. Earl was born on July 22, 1930 in Hamlin County, SD to Albin and Alma (Bundy) Pearson. He attended school in Hayti through the eighth grade. Earl farmed with his parents until entering the U.S. Air Force in the fall of 1951. Earl was born on July 22, 1930 in Hamlin County, SD to Albin and Alma (Bundy) Pearson. He attended school in Hayti through the eighth grade. Earl farmed with his parents until entering the U.S. Air Force in the fall of 1951. He served his country for four years; six months state-side and then also in Japan and Korea. Earl was honorably discharged in October 1955. He returned to the family farm and started milking cows. On December 1, 1962, Earl married Lila (Ladwig) Brenden. Earl retired from farming in the fall of 1999 and the couple moved into Hayti. He was a member of Hayti Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the American Legion of Hayti and the VFW of Watertown, SD. Earl served as clerk of Hayti Township for many years. He enjoyed farming, milking cows, John Deere tractors, bowling and hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he thought the world of. Earl is survived by his wife, Lila, and one son, Merle, of Hayti, SD; two grandchildren, Daine and Blair; five step-children: Char and her husband, Eugene Sommervold, of Sioux Falls, SD; Judie and her husband, Joe Russell, of Norfolk, NE; Dennis and his wife, Roxy Brenden, of Watertown, SD; Donald and his wife, Beth Brenden, of Norfolk, NE and Darla and her husband, Lee Conrad, of Yankton, SD; 14 step-grandchildren; 26 step-great grandchildren; three brothers: Omer and his wife, Mary Pearson, of Huron, SD; Jerrald and his wife, Karen Pearson, of Oakville, WA and Lynn Pearson of Castlewood, SD; four sisters: Lilace Kastien of Lake Norden, SD; Arlene Larson of Hayti, SD; Joyce Amerson of Rapid City, SD and Audrey and her husband, Leo Stormo, of Watertown, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Darvin, Rollie, Howard, Roger and Arlyn and two sisters: Marion and Nona. Funeral services for Earl Albin Pearson, age 77, of Hayti, SD will be Tuesday, April 22, 2008 in the Hayti Lutheran Church, Hayti, SD. Burial, with military graveside rites provided by Cook-Olsen Post #217, Hayti and Post #37, Bryant of the American Legion, will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hayti, SD. Pallbearers will be the members of Cook-Olsen Post #217 of the American Legion. Arrangements by Crawford Funeral Chapel.
