It was in O'Neill on Aug. 14, 1912 that he was united in marriage to Amanda C. Conner. The Gordon Journal, Gordon, NE - Wed, 11 Dec 1968 Clarence Van Briggle was born Dec. 14, 1892 at Des Moines, Ia. to Henry and Ada Van Briggle. He moved with his parents to Holt county, Nebraska. It was in O'Neill on Aug. 14, 1912 that he was united in marriage to Amanda C. Conner. To this union were born four children: one son, Lowell of Gordon; three daughters, Everal - Mrs. Sig Fauske of Borger, Tex.; Mary - Mrs. Raymond Hartman of Oelrichs, S.D. and Unabelle - Mrs. Wendell Lein of Gordon. There are 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren in the family circle. Mr. Van Briggle took up the blacksmith trade when a boy of 14 and continued in this work along with farming and ranching. The family moved to Sheridan county in April 1929 and this was his home until his death in Gordon Memorial Hospital, Dec. 5, 1968 at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 21 days. Mr. and Mrs. Van Briggle faithfully attended the Gospel chapel as his health permitted. His parents and one sister preceded him in death, also two grandchildren, Clarinda Belle Lein and Harlen Van Briggle. Surviving are his wife, four children, 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; one half-sister; and one half-brother and many friends of the area. Funeral services were held in the Gordon Gospel chapel at 2 p.m., Dec. 7 and burial was in the Gordon cemetery. with Melvin Grosenbach officiating.
