Description	:	COOKSEY, EARL E.—Earl E. Cooksey, son of W. H. and Augusta Cooksey, was born January 27, 1883, at Geneva. He passed away at the Fillmore County hospital at Geneva, Sunday, August 13, 1961, at the age of 78 years, six months and seven days. He lived in Geneva until the age of 14 when he moved with his parents to Burress. He was united in marriage to Lillie Dittman, August 1, 1904, at McCool Junction. H. and Augusta Cooksey, was born January 27, 1883, at Geneva. He passed away at the Fillmore County hospital at Geneva, Sunday, August 13, 1961, at the age of 78 years, six months and seven days. He lived in Geneva until the age of 14 when he moved with his parents to Burress. He was united in marriage to Lillie Dittman, August 1, 1904, at McCool Junction. To this union were born two children, Muriel and Harold. He worked as a telegrapher on the Burlington railroad at Burress, Byron and Milligan, moving to Carleton in 1918, where he was employed by the Union Pacific railroad, until his retirement in the spring of 1949. They continued to make Carleton their home after his retirement. He has been in poor health the past year. He was preceded in death by his daughter Muriel in January, 1922, his parents, three brothers and three sisters. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Lillie, his son, Harold and wife Martha of Holton, Kas., one grandson Earl and wife Karen and one great-grandson of Seward, two sisters, Mrs. Maude Williams of Grand Junction, Col., and Mrs. Pete Kelch of Geneva and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church in Carleton Wednesday, august 16, at 10 a. m. with Rev. Mr. Rehorn of Davenport officiating. Mrs. Wanda Tegtmeier sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “Beyond the Sunset”. Pallbearers were Jerry Dinneen, Walter Clark, Warren Voss, Charles Ebbeka, Bob Enghauser and Harlan Horner.
