Description	:	Earl Eldon Kinney, formerly of Franklin, Nebraska, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Bethany Home, Minden, Nebraska. Earl was born on August 15, 1923 in Campbell, Nebraska, to Clyde Meneer and Zelpha Alice (Weaver) Kinney. Earl was the seventh of nine children born to Clyde and Zelpha. Read More	Earl Eldon Kinney, formerly of Franklin, Nebraska, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Bethany Home, Minden, Nebraska. Earl was born on August 15, 1923 in Campbell, Nebraska, to Clyde Meneer and Zelpha Alice (Weaver) Kinney. Earl was the seventh of nine children born to Clyde and Zelpha. He attended grade school at District #23 and graduated from Campbell (NE.) High School in 1941. Earl married Louisa Jelken in 1945 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Macon, Nebraska. They had two children, Marie Therese died at birth in 1949 and Loren died in 1963 at the age of 17 from leukemia. Earl served in the U.S. Army from 1944 until 1946. His basic training was in Alabama, and he went to Germany and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. Earl returned and farm for 10 years and then they moved to Idaho in 1957. In 1967 they moved to Irving, Texas. Earl worked for Darr Equipment until his retirement. They moved back to Franklin, Nebraska in 1986. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Macon, Nebraska and had served on the Deacon Board. He was also a member of the Macon (NE.) Lion's Club and had served as zone chairman. Earl enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He loved helping people and enjoyed everyone. He never met a stranger. He was also a member of the Franklin (NE.) American Legion Post #209 and the VFW #5757. Survivors are: wife, Louisa Kinney of Minden, Nebraska; sister, Erma Jean Albers of Campbell, Nebraska; sisters in-law, Vaila Kinney of Georgia, Elverna Herrick of Franklin, Nebraska, and Irene Lodge of Fort Worth, Texas; brother in-law Frank Jelken and wife, Norma Jean of Franklin, Nebraska and a host of relatives and friends. Earl is preceded in death by son, Loren Ray Kinney; daughter, Marie Therese Kinney; brothers, Cecil, Kenneth, Oscar, Jim, Edward and Owen Kinney and sister, Arley Timmers. Interment was in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Macon, Nebraska with military honors. Published in Kearney Hub on May 30, 2013
