Read More	August 9, 1923 Indianola Record Earl Frederick Adamson, son of Effie J. and Fred Adamson, was born at Ware, Ia., August 28, 1914, and died at Spring Hill, July 15, 1923. He would have been nine years old the twenty-eighth of August. During the last four years Earl has lived with his mother and sister, Lela, in Spring Hill, where he was a faithful pupil in the public school. He was impatient for the school to open and looked forward to a college training, when death by accident cut short his life and his own boyish plans and designs. His mother and sister will miss him most, for they cared for him there in their little home on top of Spring Hill. Funeral services were held in the Spring Hill Methodist church, July 17th, at ten o'clock. Reverend Monroe J. Rarick, the evangelist, gave a wonderful address on the reality and beauty of heaven. Reverend Forest H. Perkins of Shambaugh, Ia., Spring Hill's own preacher, read the scripture service and the pastor, James Walls, spoke a brief word of comfort and consolation. From harvest field and home came many folks to share a mother's grief; sitting with her a while, pondering upon the mysteries of life. Now we see through a glass darkly, now we know in part; but now abideth faith, hope, love—and the greatest of these is love. From the Master's sorrowing heart and grief-stricken lips leaped these words of surrender and trust, Not my will, but thine be done. The little body was laid to rest in the Webb cemetery. # # # Indianola Record Thursday, July 19, 1923 Earl Frederick Adamson, nine year old son of Effie J. Adamson of Spring Hill was accidentally killed at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Sam Richards, last Sunday afternoon. After the dinner hour, Earl went in company with his cousin, Howard Bell [Bedwell], to the barn yard to play. In about five minutes Howard came running to the house saying that Earl was hurt at the barn. The mother rushed to the barn where she found her boy prostrated on the straw with blood gushing from a wound in the forehead. Dr. Hooper was called and Miss Alexander, a trained nurse was rushed to the scene of the accident. Every effort was made to save the boy's life, but in spite of all efforts, the lad grew weaker till the end came at six-thirty in the evening. The boy did not regain consciousness after the accident. His playmate gives the following account of what happened: the two boys left the dinner table and went under a tree where they clambered into a buggy. Then it was that Earl suggested that they go play in the barn loft, to which Howard replied that there were rats and mice up there. But Earl started out, notwithstanding rats and mice, while Howard remained in the buggy for a while. He says when he did go toward the barn he found Earl lying there in the feedway, just inside the south door, with one tang of the hay fork sticking in his forehead. Grabbing the handle he drew the fork out and ran to the house for aid. Howard is much grieved over the loss of his playmate as is the mother and sister, Lela. The whole community is horror struck over the accident, and all who knew Earl feel a deep personal loss in the untimely departure of so fine a little boy as Earl Adamson was. # # # Earl's father was Fred Leroy Adamson, m Effie Wood Feb 9, 1908.
