Brown, age 80, of Millfield "Liar's Corner", died Thursday afternoon, July 24, 2008 at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens. Born Oct. 28, 1927 in Chauncey, he was the son of the late Carl H. and Edith L. Sams Brown. A 1946 graduate of Chauncey Dover High School, he operated a Marathon fuel oil distributorship for 27 years. He also worked at C&E Tire Shop and Hardware Stores for 15 years. He was a regular vendor at the Athens Farmer's Market and a lifelong farmer. Earl was a member of the Chauncey Christian Church, where he served as Elder, Trustee and Sunday School Superintendent. He was a member of the Men's Fellowship, an active Youth Sponsor and served as a Board Member of the Planning Council with the Hocking Valley Parish. He was a member of the Sunday Creek Valley Water District, Athens County Historical Society, SERTOMA, and had donated over 124 units with the Red Cross Blood Drive. He was also a member of Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM, Athens York Rite Bodies, Aladdin Temple Shrine and the Athens County Shrine Club. Earl is survived by two daughters- Diana (Ray) Blowers of Beavercreek and Carol (Jeff) Koehler of Guysville; a son, Roger (Paula) Brown of Millfield; nine grandchildren- Ryan (Katie) Blowers, Gary Blowers, Heather Meadows, Jeremy (Rebecca) Koehler, Karl (Jody) Brown, Kyle Brown, Nick Brown, Katelyn (Mike) Kelsey and Donna "D.J." Brown; one great grandchild, Rylie Blowers; a sister, Dottie (Dale) Channell of The Plains; and a special friend, Phyllis Bennett of Chauncey. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean Sayers Brown in 1989, and a sister, Edna McBride. Funeral service will be conducted Monday 3:00PM at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Rev. Deanna White officiating. Burial will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the funeral home. Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM will hold Masonic services Sunday at 6:30PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chauncey Christian Church, P.O. Box 245, Chauncey 45719.
