Description	:	Earl L Otto, died May 9, 2000, in Tacoma. Earl was born January 10, 1928, in Pateros to Harold and Mary Otto. He graduated from Pateros High School in 1945 and entered the US Maritime Service where he served in Air Transport, moving goods to occupied Japan. In 1948, he enlisted in the US Air Force and trained as an aircraft mechanic. He married Dora "Debbie" Chupepper in 1958 while at Larsen Air Base in Moses Lake. Earl was born January 10, 1928, in Pateros to Harold and Mary Otto. He graduated from Pateros High School in 1945 and entered the US Maritime Service where he served in Air Transport, moving goods to occupied Japan. In 1948, he enlisted in the US Air Force and trained as an aircraft mechanic. He married Dora "Debbie" Chupepper in 1958 while at Larsen Air Base in Moses Lake. Debbie had served in the Women's Army Corps during WWII and was employed at Larsen in civil service. Earl served at several duty station at home and abroad and was a decorated veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Air Force in 1968 and he and Debbie settled in Tacoma. At that time, he began working for the State of Washington while Debbie remained in civil service. He retired in 1988. Debbie died in 1989. In retirement, Earl was active in many volunteer organizations including the Veterans Hospital and WICS. He was a self proclaimed "airplane nut", collecting airplane models, books and history. He belonged to modeling clubs and retired military organizations. He was especially involved with the McCord Air Museum where he used his sircraft knowledge to help restore several old aircrafts for display there. He was a devoted member of Clovercreek Bible Fellowship. Earl will be remembered for his quiet generosity and unfailing responsibility in all he did. Earl was preceded in death by his wife and parents. He is survived by his sisters and their husbands, Grace and Arnold Davidson, of Bridgeport and Nada and Marvin Buchanan of Pateros; several nieces and nephews and companion Bonnie Kittell of Tacoma. A memorial service and internment of ashes for Earl and Debbie Otto will be held Saturday, June 24, 2000, at 1 pm at the Pateros Cemetery.
