Death occurred at St. Josephs hospital in Denver after an illness of four weeks. Funeral services were held in Emmetsburg Thursday, Aug. 20, at the home of his mother, Mrs. J.C. Schroeder. Rev. Barker officiated. The Masonic Lodge of Spencer was in charge of the commitment to the grave in the Evergreen cemetery. Funeral services were held in Emmetsburg Thursday, Aug. 20, at the home of his mother, Mrs. J.C. Schroeder. Rev. Barker officiated. The Masonic Lodge of Spencer was in charge of the commitment to the grave in the Evergreen cemetery. The pallbearers were Clyde Freeman, Bernard Schroeder, Jake More, of Harlan, Carl Wells and Joe Ringhan of Estherville and William Dick Peddie. The deceased was born at Estherville July 14, 1897. Thus he was 34 years of age. He came to Emmetsburg with his parents at the age of four. His father and sister preceded him in death, the, latter dying at the age of 18. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. J.C. Schroeder, of this city. It seems a tragic thing that a man of Mr. Dodgson's ability and future possibilities should be taken at the age of 34. He attended Emmetsburg high school while here, was a diligent student, and early in life gave indications of making a success in the world. At the time of his death he held a splendid position with the American Telegraph and Telephone Company at Denver. His services were highly valued and he was entrusted with immense responsibilities. Had he lived on it would be reasonable to predict a very successful future for him with the large corporation in which he had already established himself. In addition to his capabilities he was a fine young man of clean habits and ways of life. His character was beyond reproach. His death must be a severe blow to his kind mother.
