Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 1151 of Creighton. Pallbearers were Virgil Fanning, Clay Fanning, Rick Hancock, John Winter, Leo Zuver and Wilbur Placek. Earl Semans was born May 11, 1913 at Bayonne, to Matthew and Myra (Warden) Semans. He died July 29 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital in Creighton. Earl Semans was born May 11, 1913 at Bayonne, to Matthew and Myra (Warden) Semans. He died July 29 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital in Creighton. At an early age he worked on ranches and helped his mother raise his younger sisters and brothers. During WWII he entered the U.S. Army, serving three years and nine months in California and in the Pacific area, including Pearl Harbor, Midway Island, Saipan and Iwo Jima. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with three battle stars. He returned home Thanksgiving of 1945. He was a commercial bus driver on Highway 20 from Gordon to Ainsworth for several years. He also worked as a foreman on ranches for several years. He moved to Ogallala and started a carpet business, which he operated for 25 years. He married Ruby Jacobsen in 1959 at Yankton. He was a member of the Old Time Cowboys organization of Gordon, VFW Post 1151 of Creighton and American Legion of Gordon. In 1987 he and his wife moved to Creighton, where he lived until his death. Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of Bloomfield; sisters, Juanita Strong of Escondido, CA and Kathryn Winter of Alliance and many nieces and nephews.
