Read More	The Franklin Press - 13 August 2002 Mr Lyons Ernest Arwood Lyons, 79, of Riverview Heights, Franklin, died Saturday, Aug 10, in a local hospital. A native of Surry, VA, he was the son of the late Charley and Julia Jarrell Lyons. He was a veteran of the U S Air Force during WWII where he earned the Silver Star and eight Bronze Stars and was a member of the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108. He was a retired construction worker and a lumberman. He was a member of the East Franklin Assembly of God. Mr Lyons is survived by his wife of 54 years, Vesta Arbutus McCoy Lyons; a daughter, Yvonne Miller and her husband, Steve; one son, Wayford Lyons and wife Elaine, all of Franklin; three sisters, Aretta Norman, Mary Lyons, and Margaret Lyons, all of Mt Airy; six brothers, Revis Lyons, of Raleigh, Fred Lyons of Hendersonville, and Dewey Lyons of Sylva; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Lyons. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today in the Prentiss Church of God with Rev Don Moffitt officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brown Johnson, Albert Ramsey, Bobby Hartsell, Pearley Munger, and Hoke Meadows. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Franklin VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108 will conduct military graveside rites. Memorials can be made to the Altzheimer's Association, 3 Louisiana Ave, Asheville, NC 28806. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
