Published: 2009-09-15 Vesta Arbutus McCoy Lyons Vesta Arbutus McCoy Lyons, 80, of Franklin, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at a local nursing home. She was a native of Macon County, the daughter of the late Homer and Hallie Holland McCoy. She was married to Earnest Arwood Lyons who passed away Aug. 10, 2002. She was a bookkeeper for Winn Dixie for 18 years and retired from Home Health. She was a member of Goldmine Baptist Church and attended Prentiss Church of God. She loved flowers, gardening, canning and fishing. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Miller and husband Steve and her son, Wayford Lyons and wife Elaine, all of Franklin; two sisters, Virginia Cunningham of Mableton, Ga., and Helen Ramsey of Franklin; one brother, Mack McCoy of Franklin; two grandchildren, Jesse Lyons and Heather Miller and husband Joel McCoy. She was preceded in death by one sister, Eunice Cabe, and one brother, Neville McCoy. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Prentiss Church of God, with Rev. Tim Hayes officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary McCoy, Terry McCoy, Bobby McCoy, Mike Ramsey, Dexter Vinson, and Jeremia Taylor. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the Prentisss Church of God. Memorials may be be made to Alzheimers Caregiver Retreat, 125 Hyatt Rd., Franklin, NC 28734. Bryant-Grant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
