Born in Chesnee, S.C. he was the husband of the late Ola Mae Hamrick Bishop and son of the late Charlie Bishop and Annie Cabiness Bishop. He retired from Timken, loved hunting, fishing & gardening, and was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church where he was an honorary lifetime deacon and former Sunday School teacher. Surviving are two sons, Larry Bishop and wife, Margaret, and Dave Bishop, both of Gaffney; two daughters, Martha Wilkie and husband, Don, and Carol Hyatt Baca and husband, Henry, both of Gaffney; a brother, Howard Bishop of Boiling Springs, S.C.; two sisters, Doshia Parnell and Betty Jean Tennyson and husband, Bill, both of Chesnee; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by six brothers, James Arthur Bishop, Vernon Bishop, Homer Bishop, Herbert Bishop, Albert Bishop and Horace Bishop and two sisters, Juanita Cooper and Lizzie Bishop. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Graveside services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in Frederick Memorial Gardens with Mr. Ashby Blakely officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 1886, Gaffney, S.C. 29342 or Peachtree Centre, 1434 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, S.C. 29340. The family will be at the home of Larry & Margaret Bishop, 1411 Ford Road, Gaffney.
