When about one year old, his parents moved to Floyd county, Iowa, settling on a farm ten miles north of Charles City, where they resided until the spring of 1881, when they moved to Cerro Gordo county. Here the family lived for seven years, at the end of which period they moved to a farm three miles south of town, which they rented until they moved to Rockford, which has been his home since. He was united in marriage Dec. 11, 1915 to... Read More	May 17, 1919 Obituary Ed Squier Ed Squier was born in McHenry county, Illinois, December 27, 1863. When about one year old, his parents moved to Floyd county, Iowa, settling on a farm ten miles north of Charles City, where they resided until the spring of 1881, when they moved to Cerro Gordo county. Here the family lived for seven years, at the end of which period they moved to a farm three miles south of town, which they rented until they moved to Rockford, which has been his home since. He was united in marriage Dec. 11, 1915 to Miss Lila Farnham, to which union one son was born. he passed away Thursday, May 1, following a period of failing health of two years or more and an acute illness of several months, which had been aggravated by a serious attack of influenza. The deceased leaves to mourn his passing his wife and little son Kenneth, two sisters, Mrs. J. K. Fullerton and Mrs. Marvin Johnston, both of Rockford; and seven brothers, Cyrus of Nora Springs, Jay J. and Almond T. of Rockford, John B. of Estherville, Elisha G. of Marble Rock and William and Martin J. of Rockford. A brief service was held at the late home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, followed by a public service at the Congregational church, both being in charge of the pastor, Rev. Lambly. Those who were in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Katcher of Greene; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Osier of Greene; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Squier and Joe Squier of Orchard; Mrs. Wm. Beckwith of Charles City; Mrs. Grace Lacht of Orchard; J. B. Squier of Estherville; E. G. Squier and daughter Eva or Marble Rock and C. E. Squier of Nora Springs. The deceased was of a retiring disposition but was sincerely esteemed by all who knew him. The quality of the man was shown in the sympatheic care which he gave his aged mother who made her home with him during a number of years before her death. The deceased will be missed both as a man and a friend.
