Mrs. Adelaide Hodge and Mrs. Nellie Briggs were flower bearers. Casket bearers were F. L. ?ferrick, H. C. Batty, I.H. Benson, H . Brincken, J. A. Cooper and E. W. Kluckhohn. The graveside service was conducted by members of the Masonic Order. Final Resting place, Riverside cemetery, Rockford. J. J. Squier, the third eldest of ten children, was born to Mary E. and Charles H. Squier in Henry Co., Waukegan, Ill, March 9th, 1862. When 3 years of age, he came with his parents by covered wagon to a farm 10 miles north of Charles City. When he was 19 years of age the family moved into the Dr. Wilbur farm southwest of Rockford in Cerro Gordo county. On Thanksgiving day, Nov. 25th 1886 at Charles City, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Nellie E. Hain. To this union …. The deceased was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic and K.P. Lodges to all of which he remained loyal while his health permitted. He was a kind and loving father and led a quiet, Christian life. On December 25th, 1942, he suffered a stroke, from which he never fully recovered. Through all of his lingering illness he was tenderly cared for by his wife, and on June 18th, Father's day, he was moved to the home of his son, Merle so they might assist in his care. Here he peacefully passed away at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 30th, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 20 days. He leaves to morn his loss his loving wife and two sons, seventeen grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Agnes Fullerton of Rockford; five brothers, Martin and A. T. of Rockford, Elisha of Marble Rock, Will of Orchard and John of Estherville, Iowa; besides many other relatives and a host of friends. One sister, Martha Johnson and two brothers, Cyrus and Ed, preceded him in death. Attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. George Squier and family of Floyd; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Squier, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Squier, Mr. and Mrs. Will Squier, Mrs. Grace Lack and John Lack of Orchard; Miss Shirley Squier and Mrs. LeRoy Medlin of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Calease of Plainfield; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hicok of Nashua; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Edington, Mrs. Harold Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Bendickson and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Squier and family all of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Crowell of Gary Ind; E.G. Squier of Marble Rock; and Mr. and Mrs. AL Chapman of Nora Springs.
