Description	:	Obituary From "The Ottumwa Courier," Monday, September 20, 1993: Edgar Johnson OTTUMWA – Edgar J. "Showball" Johnson, 63, of 1646 E. Locust St., died at 1:55 p.m. Sept. 19, 1993, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born on March 30, 1930, in Ottumwa to Edgar E. and Nina M. Large Johnson. He married Donna Posovich on Aug. 7, 1954. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and later served in the Navy. A resident of Ottumwa all his life, he was an employee of John Morrell & Co., retiring in 1970. He married Donna Posovich on Aug. 7, 1954. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and later served in the Navy. A resident of Ottumwa all his life, he was an employee of John Morrell & Co., retiring in 1970. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Ed II, Sam Johnson and Chuck of Ottumwa; a daughter, Nina Hecker of Blakesburg; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Orman and Doris Phillips of Ottumwa; and a brother, Wilbur of Altoona. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Military service will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post 775 of Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post 3 of American Legion at the grave. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Steve Day, Kevin Kennedy, Dave Leonard, Larry Fairchild, Mike Ryan and Roy Turner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ottumwa Babe Ruth Baseball Team.
