Sabers, son of William and Annie (Osterhaus) Sabers, was born August 22, 1910 near Salem. He grew up near Salem and attended Salem St. Mary's grade school. Tillie A. Bartscher, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Igel) Bartscher, was born March 29, 1912 near Salem. She grew up near Salem and graduated from Salem St. Mary's High School. They were married June 12, 1934 in Salem. They farmed west of Salem until 1975 when they retired. They continued to live on the farm until 1990 when they moved into Salem. They were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Salem. They were also very avid basketball and baseball fans and attended games until the time of their deaths. They were members of the Mc Cook Central Athletic Boosters. Tillie was a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, the Christian Mothers, and the Friendly Neighbors Extension Club. She also like to do quilting. They both died on Tuesday, February 14, 1995 (Valentine Day). Tillie died at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home of Salem having reached the age of 82 years, 10 months, and 15 days. Edgar died at his residence in Salem having reached the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 22 days. Survivors include: five sons, Lyle and his wife Carol of Huron, Kenny and his wife Carol of Sturgis, Jack and his wife Vivian of Salem, Terry and his wife Deb of Mitchell, and Dan and his wife Jackie of Salem; three daughters, Sally, Mrs. Curt Jorgenson of Sioux Falls; Judy, Mrs. Ray Eichacker of Salem, and Jane, Mrs. Bill Weber of Salem; 30 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. Edgar is also survived by three brothers, Elmer of Wofford Heights, California, Melvin of Salem, and Willard of Sun City, California; and three sisters, Esther Mentele of Canova, Marcella Koepke of Spencer, and Elvira Herting of Concord, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter, and one great grandson. Tillie is also survived by one sister, Angie Lanners of Salem. She was preceded in death by her parents, three half-brothers, two half-sisters, one granddaughter, and one great grandson.
