Description	:	Edith Margaret Lorraine Ellison, 87, died April 17, 2009 at Morningside Manor in Alcester, S.D. She was born on January 10, 1922 in rural Beresford to Herman and Emma (Mossberg) Zetterlund. Edith attended Newdale Country School, and the University of South Dakota, graduating from Beresford High School and Springfield Teacher's College. Read More	Edith Margaret Lorraine Ellison, 87, died April 17, 2009 at Morningside Manor in Alcester, S.D. She was born on January 10, 1922 in rural Beresford to Herman and Emma (Mossberg) Zetterlund. Edith attended Newdale Country School, and the University of South Dakota, graduating from Beresford High School and Springfield Teacher's College. She taught at Greenfield Country School for five years and for several years in the Beresford School District. On June 12, 1946, she married Morris Ellison. Morris died on July 5, 2006 only a short time after they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Edith was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church until it closed in 1988; she then joined Dalesburg Lutheran Church, where she had been baptized, confirmed, and married. Edith had a passion for Church Leadership, Global Missions, and Stewardship. This was evident in her commitment to the elected offices she held at the local, synod, and national level of Lutheran Church Women's Organizations. While working hand in hand with Morris on the farm, Edith also raised hybrid roses, sharing many beautiful bouquets and corsages with others. Edith is survived by her children, Marilyn (Rev. Marvin) Skogen, Casper, WY; Dr. David (Cindi) Ellison, Lino Lakes, MN; Julle Ann (Rick) Wood, Omaha, NE; ten grandchildren; one sister, Helen (Edgar) Resel, Sioux Falls, SD; several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Melissa Skogen, and sister, Linnea Peterson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Global Missions, c/o SD Synod ELCA, Augustana College, Sioux Falls, SD, 57197, or Dalesburg Lutheran Church. Condolences may be sent to 490 Hawthorn Road, Lino Lakes, MN, 55014. Visitation will be on Friday, April 24th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Iverson-Siecke-Kober Funeral Home in Vermillion, with the family present. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, rural Vermillion with Rev. Kwen Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery, rural Vermillion.
