Description	:	Edithe Rowley was born in Nebraska and lived on her mother's farm working for and with her mother until her marriage. In 1923 Edith M. Rowley married Amos H. Duraham, in Nebraska. They worked on several farms, where most of their children were born. They were the parents of ten; Howard, 1924; Freeda Durham Flowers, 1926; Esther Durham Shoemaker, 1928; Laurence, 1930; Eva Durham Arnett, 1932; and Ervie, 1936. In 1937 they fixed up a 1928 1 1/2 ton truck, making a tent top on the bed and loading up with two families - 4 adults and ten children- and headed... Read More	Edithe Rowley was born in Nebraska and lived on her mother's farm working for and with her mother until her marriage. In 1923 Edith M. Rowley married Amos H. Duraham, in Nebraska. They worked on several farms, where most of their children were born. They were the parents of ten; Howard, 1924; Freeda Durham Flowers, 1926; Esther Durham Shoemaker, 1928; Laurence, 1930; Eva Durham Arnett, 1932; and Ervie, 1936. In 1937 they fixed up a 1928 1 1/2 ton truck, making a tent top on the bed and loading up with two families - 4 adults and ten children- and headed west. After dropping the other family off in Idaho, they settled in Dorris for one year. After a sesaon of fruit picking, they went to Ontario, Oregon, where Clara Dene Durham Goddard was born in 1939. In the fall of 1939, they moved back to Dorris. Vina Durham Reeder, 1941; Milton,1945 and Gladys, 1949 were born in the Dorris Hospital. In 1940 Amos bought a 160 acre sagebrush covered ranch at Picard, California. After spending a couple of years, clearing the ranch of sagebrush, he started farming it. Amos was a log scaler at Associated Box in Dorris, California. In 1957 Amos sold his ranch and moved to Talent, Oregon. They stayed there a couple of years and moved back to Dorris. They bought a home in Dorris. Amos worked at a mill in Mt. Hebron, California, and retired to his home in Dorris. He died in 1978 and Edith died in 1982. ************** Herald and News July 7, 1982 Edith Margaret "Maggie" Durham, 77, Dorris, died on Wednesday, in Yreka, Calif. He sas the youngest of 11 children born to Joseph and Zelphia Rowley. The family farm was near Blanch, Neb. She was mnarried to Amos Henry Durham Jr. on April 24, 1923. They moved to Idaho in 1935. They alter moved to Southern California, then back to Idaho in 1938. In 1939 they moved to Dorris. They lived with Amos Durham Sr. for a short period of time before moving into a house east of Dorris. In 1940, they bought their family home west of Dorris. They farmed and her husband worked at a lumber and box factory in Dorris. They gave birth to 10 children prior to moving to Talen in 1956. Eleven months later they moved back to Dorris. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Gladys K. Durham of Dorris, Freeda and Jim Flowers of Midland, Esther and Ervin Shoemaker of Macdoel, Vina and Billie Reeder of Cleveland, Ohio, Eva and Merwin Arnett of Roseburg, and Clara and Billy Goddard of Klamath Falls; sons and daughters-in-law, Laurence and Shirley Durham of Dorris, Milton and Beverly Durham of Klamath Falls, Ervie and Dale Durham of Santee, Calif., and Howard Durham of Gold Beach; daughter-in-law, Cleo Durham of Dorris; 17 grandchildren nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
