Description	:	PETERSON, EDITH MARIE—Edith Marie Peterson was born to James Elmer Doremus and Minnie (Pozehl) Doremus on May 28, 1914, at Shelton, and passed away December 9, 1992, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 11 days. She was one of 13 children in the family. At an early age Edith and her family moved to Utica where she attended Utica Public School. Edith resided in Utica until 1946. She moved to Geneva where she was employed at JC Penney Store in Geneva from 1956 to 1973. Edith was married to Lyle (Pete) Peterson of Beaver Crossing on January 11, 1943, and to them three children were born. Edith was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Geneva. She was also a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Ladies Aid. Edith was a past superintendent of the Church Sunday School. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and through the years held many offices, one being president of the auxiliary. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, James and Minnie; husband, Lyle; four brothers, Alvin, Frank, Walter and Lee; a sister, Lillian Ahart. She is survived by a son, Douglas Peterson; two daughters, Kareen Alexander and Marsha Medbery; six brothers, LeRoy Doremus, Floyd Doremus, Arthur Doremus, Richard Doremus, Glen Doremus and Dwayne Doremus; sister, LuLu Yordt; and four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services were conducted from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Geneva, on Saturday, December 12, with Pastor Lyle Sass officiating. Mrs. Jannene Sass accompanied Joan Burling who sang “How Great Thou Art.” Jannene also accompanied the congregation who sang “Just as I Am” and “Abide With Me.” Casket bearers were Allen, James, Paul and Ron Doremus, Alan Hanks and Wes Yordt.
