Read More	PETERSON, LYLE PETE—Lyle Peterson of Geneva passed away at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva, August 31, 1966, after an extended illness, at the age of 56 years, 1 month and 5 days. Mr. Peterson was born at Beaver Crossing Neb., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Peterson. He was married to Edith Doremus in 1942 and in 1946 they came to Geneva to make their home. Lyle, or “Pete” as everyone knew him, was a Veteran of World War II, having served three years overseas in the South Pacific area. After his return home to Geneva he was an active member of the V. F. W. and the American Legion as long as health permitted. For many years, Lyle was in business in partnership with his brother-in-law. Walter Doremus in the Geneva Tire & Oil Co. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran church and was a church council member during the time of the organization and the building of the present church structure. He is survived by his wife, two daughters Kareen (Mrs. Alvin Rhodes) of Kent, Wash., and Marcia, at home, and one son, Douglas, at home, one granddaughter, Amy, and a son-in-law Alvin Rhodes. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Zerelda Peterson and his brother Loren of Beaver Crossing, numerous nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law from Utica and Beaver Crossing. Mr. Peterson’s father passed away in 1936. Funeral services were conducted September 3 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran church, Geneva, with Rev. Woodrow Wilson officiating. Christy and Cherryl Best snag “Abide With Me” and the congregation sang “Jesus Lover of My Soul.” Gary White was accompanist. Pallbearers were Donald Apley, Donald Hurst, Willard Mussman, Theodore Philippi, Arthur Ricenbau and George Teyrrell. Military rites were conducted and interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
