(Rambo) Dolezal, 97, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Sunday at a Great Falls care facility. Born April 11, 1913 at the family homestead near Hingham, Montana, Edith was the third of six children born to William and Elsie Rambo. She graduated from Hingham High School in 1931, and then attended Northern Montana College in Havre, where she earned a teaching certificate. She taught grades first through eighth in one-room rural schools near Gildford and Laredo during the 1930s. On June 17, 1936, Edith married Edward Dolezal in Havre. They farmed north of Gilford, living both on the farm and in Gilford, eventually retiring in Havre in 1961. Edith was extremely proud of the fact that the farm has remained in the family from 1914, when it was homesteaded by John and Augusta Dolezal, to the present. Edith was a longtime member of the Van Orsdel Methodist Church in Havre. She was a 50-year-plus member of the Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She was a wonderful seamstress and kept her two daughters dressed in beautiful clothes throughout their childhood. In later years, her hobbies included ceramics, writing poetry, crocheting, crossword puzzles and writing a book for her family compiled from daily diaries she kept religiously from Jan. 1, 1934 until her death. Edith is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Lloyd Mallard, of Great Falls; two grandsons, Scott (Jenny) Mallard of Huron, South Dakota, and Mark (Pat) Mallard, of Butte, Montana; and four great-grandchildren, Matt, Charlotte, Jace and Alaina. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Edward, in 2001; her daughter, Sandra (Peachie) in 1998; and her five siblings, Cecile Brevik, Roy Rambo, Howard Rambo, Art Rambo and Gladys Burkhartsmeyer. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edith's memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA, 99210-2472, or a charity of the donor's choice.
