Description	:	Rites held of Edith Spicer Edith Spicer, 97, formerly of the Wessington and Huron area, died Wednesday, February 15, 1995, at Emrald Terrace Nursing Home in Vancouver, WA. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Wesleyan Church in Huron with the Revs. Adrian Timmons, Donald Spicer and Lyle Spicer officiating. Burial was in the Wessington Cemetery. Edith May Gamble was born October 1, 1897 at Parker to Henry and Ella (Harper) Gamble. She graduated from Parker High School, then moved with her parents to Huron, where she attended Huron College. She then taught school for several years. On May 28, 1924 she married Elmer Lawrence Spicer at Huron. They farmed north of Wessington until 1964, when they moved to Huron. For the last seven years she has lived with her daughter in Vancouver. While living in Wessington, she was a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Turtle Creek Ladies Aid and the Extension Club. When she lived in Huron she was a member of the Wesleyan Church, Pioneer Daughters Study Club and Huron Area Senior Center. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Warren and Elaine, Wessington; Lyle and Ruth, Hot Springs; and Donald and Bethel, Amelia, NE; one daughter, Doris green of Vancouver; 17 grandchildren, 31 great- grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 5, 1982; her parents; two brothers, Ralph and William Gamble; three sisters, Mabel Gamble, Blanche Flickinger and Addie Johnson; and a granddaughter.
