Description	:	Friday - August 25, 1944 Mrs. Edith R. Washburn, of 1512 Park St., Keokuk, Iowa, died at the St. Joseph hospital, there, Wednesday, August 16, at the age of 68 years. The daughter of George and Ellen Harmon Leighton, Mrs. Washburn was born in Keokuk, on Decembr 31, 1875, and was a lifelong resident of this city. She was married at Canton, Missouri, on December 25, 1898 to David D. Washburn, who died on Jan. 7, 1936. Mrs. Washburn was a member of the Twelfth Street Methodist church. Surviving are four sons, Raymond A., Martin L., and Gilbert L. Washburn all of Keokuk and Pvt. Leonard O. Washburn of Fort Custer, Mich.; two daughters, Mrs. Winona Lawson of Davenport, Iowa, and Mrs. Idela Canada of Donnellson, Iowa; one brother, Lou Leighton of Ottumwa, Iowa; and six sisters, Mrs. Pearl Starr, Mrs. Myrtle Jones and Mrs. Mabel Murphy, all of Keokuk; Mrs. Mary Washburn of Gregory Landing, Mo.; Mrs. Bessie Kingley of Stanton, Nebr.; and Mrs. Katherine Butterfield, of Waukee, Iowa. Funeral services were held in the Schmidt Memorial Home at 10:00 o'clock Saturday morning, with the Rev. J.E. Clark officiating. Music was by Mrs. Harry Daniels and Mrs. Frank Butcher with Mrs. Grayes Austin Yates at the organ. Pallbearers were Harvey Hooper, Vollie Rose, Edward Humphrey, Frank Carlson, Ray Ashley and Ray Evans. Burial was in the Beuna Vista cemetery.
