Funeral held at Christian Church Saturday Morning. After a lingering illness of many weeks duration, Eddie Roberts was called Home last Friday, February 16 at his parental home near Murray. His death was caused from a complication of diseases. The funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m., from the Church of Christ in our city, conducted by Rev. E.W. Killien, his obituary follows. Edmond Vessalius, son of James and Martha J. Roberts, was born November 3, 1896, near Lacelle, Iowa at his grandfather Roberts' home and passed 16th of February, 1917, at the home of his parents four miles East of Murray, Iowa at the age of 20 years, 3 months, and 13 days, after a lingering illness of more than six months. He united with the Baptist church at Creston, Iowa in the spring of 1910. After moving to the home of his parents he placed membership with the Church of Christ in Murray in February 1916. Eddie realized his condition and knowing that his hour was come he was ready for the summons that called him from this world of sin into the marvelous light of the New World. Besides his parents and grandparents he leaves to mourn his untimely death five brothers and two sisters, as follows; Esther, Wilson, Floyd, Abner, Grace, Clarence and Bernard.
