Wells, aged 57 years. The deceased had lived at Estherville and Spirit Lake for more than thirty years. Read More	Son of Solomon D. Wells & Alzina (Simmons) Wells Married Roxana D. "Roxy" Wells (Marriage ended in divorce) --------- DIED Wells. In Spirit lake, September 26, Edward [Edmund] S. Wells, aged 57 years. The deceased had lived at Estherville and Spirit Lake for more than thirty years. Some twenty years ago he came here to take charge of the Minne Waukon hotel, but after a season or two returned to Emmet county. When his son, D.C. Wells, came here several years ago to go into business the father followed and has since called Spirit Lake his home. An appetite for strong drink impaired the usefulness and finally cut off the life of this man. When himself Ed. Wells was good and kind to all about him, and imbued with desire to live right, but in the later years he was so far in the control of liquor habit as to make his life a burden to himself and a reproach to his family. To this writer, who knew Ed in the earlier and happier years this ending is particularly sad. The aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Wells live here. Several grown children survive. The deceased was buried in Lakeview with the honors of a member of the Grand Army of the Republic by his Comrades of the post here and at Estherville. Services were held at the M. E. Church conducted by Rev. J. A. Ellis.
