Freeman and Mrs. Chris Schroeder, was found dead in bed at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Schroeder. She was ill some time ago but was able to be about on Monday. She felt fairly well. Read More	Mrs. Roxy Wells Dies Suddenly Found Lifeless in Bed on Tuesday Morning of This Week Tuesday morning Mrs. Roxy Wells, mother of Mrs. W.B. Freeman and Mrs. Chris Schroeder, was found dead in bed at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Schroeder. She was ill some time ago but was able to be about on Monday. She felt fairly well. (Emmetsburg Democrat, Emmetsburg, IA, December 24, 1919) Mrs. Roxy Wells Dies Suddenly The death of Mrs. Roxy Wells occurred at the home of her daughter Mrs. Chris. Schroeder sometime during Monday night or early Tuesday morning. Several days ago Mrs. Wells was taken suddenly ill and it was thought that before a physician could arrive that she would pass away. However when one came remedies were given and she revived. She was quite sick for several days but on Monday she was around the house and busy engaged in getting ready for Christmas. She went to bed about ten o’clock and the next morning Mrs. Schroeder hearing no stir thought that she would let her mother rest. Finally she thought that she would just look in and see how she was getting along. She did so and found her wrapped in her final sleep. The clothing was not disturbed at all so that death came very quietly in her sleep. A physician that was summoned said that she had been dead several hours. The deceased was born in Malone, New York on Christmas day 1843 and had she lived until Christmas would have been 76 years of age. Her family came to southern Minnesota in the year 1866 and she was married about the year 1872 to Mr. Wells. He died a number of years ago. Mrs. Wells has been residing with her daughter, Mrs. Schroeder in this city for fifteen years or more. She was a woman who was highly respected by all for her splendid character. Those who knew her best loved her most. She leaves a son and three daughters two of the latter Mrs. Schroeder and Mr. [Mrs.} Will Freeman reside in this city. Her sister, Mrs. P.H. Stedman also resides in this city. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Congregational church being conducted by Rev. J.E. Brereton. The interment was in Evergreen cemetery. The family have the sympathy of all in their sorrow. (Palo Alto Reporter, Emmetsburg, IA, December 25, 1919)
