Read More	Stettler Independent Stettler - Tuesday, 12 Oct 2010 KENNEY, Edna Alice (Ball) - 1913 - 2010 - Mrs. Edna Alice Kenney passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the age of 97 years. Edna was born on her parents homestead North of Botha on March 24, 1913. She was raised with her brothers Bruce and Ronald and her sister Betty. Edna completed grade ten before entering the work force. In 1936, Edna married Roy Kenney and they were blessed with three children; Elaine, Helen and David whom she was so very proud of. She taught piano, cleaned houses and cooked at Bar Harbour Camp for many years. Going to church and the social activities that went with it was a very large and important part of Edna's life. She led the church choir and played the piano and the organ in both the Botha United Church and the Stettler United Church. She also often accompanied many district singers at various functions around the community. Edna took great pride in her crocheting, knitting and her sewing projects making the most beautiful examples of what could come of a steady hand and lots of love. Edna enjoyed being active and often you could find her walking, biking, cross country skiing, floor curling, playing shuffle board, skating and even square dancing. The Woman's Missionary Society, the United Church Women, Women's Institute, Knitting Club, Home and School and the Boy Scouts Groups all held a special place in her busy life. Edna was a fine lady and will be fondly remembered and forever loved for everything she was and for everything that she did for so many people. Edna is survived by her children Elaine (Henry) Hennel of Stettler, Helen (Jim) Dunk of Red Deer and David Kenney of Prince Albert. Grandchildren Marty (Carol) Shelley (Ray), Michael (Darci), Dennis, Wendy (Randy), Travis (Jacquie) and Tracy, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, sisters-in-law Nina Ball and Maureen Ball, a host of relatives and many dear friends. Edna was predeceased by her parents Ray and Bessie Ball, her husband Roy, brothers Ronald and Bruce and by her sister Betty Hart. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law Walt and daughter-in-law Judy Kenney, infant granddaughter Beth Hennel, grandson Murray Jones and great-granddaughter Nicole Raho (Dennis's daughter). A funeral service for the late Mrs. Edna Kenney was held at the Stettler United Church on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Debbie Stockdale officiating. Edna was laid to rest earlier that day at the Woodland Cemetery in Botha. As an expression of sympathy and in loving memory of Edna, memorial contributions may be made to the Botha United Church or to a charity of your choice in care of Brennen Funeral Home and Cremation Services P.O.
